Dr. William H. Bell is a prime mover and a senior professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at New York University College of Dentistry, University of Texas Southwest Medical Center Department of Surgery and Baylor College of Dentistry. Since 1989, Dr. Bell has made more than 170 presentations in Canada, China, Britain, Japan, Netherlands, United States and other countries, and has published 170 papers, 64 abstracts, 55 chapters, 8 books and 5 movies. He has served on the editorial boards of several international journals. He has got a lot of research grants and received many awards and honors for his professional contributions. In 1974 he received St. Louis University Alumni Merit Award for Achievement in Oral Surgery and American Society of Oral Surgeons Research Recognition Award in 1977. He was conferred John J. Geis Oral Surgery Award in 1984, Simon P. Hullihen Award, 1988 and the W. Harry Archer Award in 1997. In 1999 He received Edward C. Hinds Award for Distinguished Service in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and awarded Arnold K. Maislen Memorial Award in 2007.
